finding forrester

 I watched a movie called “Finding Forrester” by Gus Van Sant he is a well know director. In the film “Finding Forrester”, the director is showing as how Jamaal Wallace was facing several kinds of changes and problems, while Jamaal was a black teenage who was sixteen years old. Jamaal was dealing different problem in his life that time when the director made this film, to show us the difficult circumstance of black men in America. At that time Jamaal was facing discrimination in school and out side the school. Jamaal plays basketball with his friends and also he shows them how smart he is by working hard. Although, his grade in the class were just average, but his test scores went very well that shows you Jamaal is trying to achieve his dream and become a better person. From his effort Jamaal and his classmate were tested, therefore, Jamaal passed the test and went to a private school.  The scene that I like in the movie was when Jamal comes to a white guy who had BMW, Jamaal asked several questions the white guy about the BMW. The white guy said, “ this car is a BMW, it’s not just a car”. This white man thinks that he was smart when Jamaal asked the white man who made this car and it when was the first time, he couldn’t answer. That shows us to not think that you are the smart one.  Last but not least, it shows me that in my life or someone’s life, we should not think that we are the braves once while maybe we are the losers.

Assignment: journal assignment one

                               Creative Solutions to Life’s Challenges

             “I believe that what we often call survival skills is simply creativity at work.” Everything that we do in life is part of creative and the way you manage them and do is the actual creative. I think that this story is a great story to listen. It also talks about the reality and the real actions that we have to do in certain times to overcome them and part of it is the creativity. In every problem there is always a way to solve or fix being creative is one of them. It reminds of me that when I was in high school I was taking a hard class as I think. It was Pre-calculus class, where they give you a simple numbers and you got to make graph or solve the problem or solution. I but my mind that I can do this class if I work hard, as “ hard work pays off” means everything you try hard you always get it or win.

                                      

 I used to sleep lately at night, because I was looking at the book all night and studying hard to succeed this class and finally I passed and got B. the author of the story likes to become and be an artists and become, while the story of “Sonny’s Blues” it mention that Sonny likes to become Musician that was his goal to achieve. If the person has his own choice to do whatever he wants most of the time he becomes what he wants, but if somebody is behind you, telling you to do this and that. That is the time when creativity in hinders. In the article or story the author’s mother said “idle hands and minds were the devil’s workshop.”  This means that if a mind is not kept busy with good things, wicked or evil thoughts and ideas are likely to enter. Your mind can only focus one way not two ways. I really like this quote that it stated in the story it’s a wisdom quote. It reminds me that for instance, when I’m reading a book I always like to read in a quietly place with no noise and distractions.
